the705 Mentorship Program
The program is designed to provide mentors to the705 membership. Mentors will be selected from the community who are leaders that want to assist in the development of others and come from a variety of disciplines.
GOAL
Provide members with an opportunity to work with and develop relationships, personal and professional, with the established leaders in the Acadiana community. The result will be a development pipeline for the next generation of leaders.

HOW IT WORKS
Mentors will be asked to commit to 4 meetings (breakfast/lunch/other) over the course of a year, beginning in March and ending in October. They are welcome to have more meetings, but we need a minimum commitment of 4. Each mentor will be assigned up to 4 members and 1 board member. The board member will be responsible for costs associated with the Mentors food and beverage. A general outline for the 4 meetings will be established to help guide the mentorship, but the mentors may take the sessions in whatever direction they feel is most appropriate.
PARTICIPATION
the705 members who are in their second year and current with their dues will be allowed to participate in the mentor program. Members will be given the opportunity in January to elect to participate in the program and will be given a list of potential mentors. They will be encouraged to select mentors that they currently do not have a relationship with. Board Members will be responsible for communication and meeting planning with the mentor.
Existing Members as of Feb 15 2012 will be allowed to participate regardless of join date.
If at any time during the year, the member fails to pay dues by more than 60 days, they will be excused from the program and not allowed to attend future meetings nor will they be able to qualify for the completion of the course.
APPLICATION
Members interested in the program will complete our online application. The application will include contact information as well as why the applicant is interested in the mentorship program. Each applicant will be asked to rank their top 5 choices of mentors on the application. As part of the application, members must complete a non-disclosure clause as well as agree to a clause prohibiting solicitation of the mentor during the calendar year in which the member is paired with the mentor.
2012 Applications due February 15th, 2012
SELECTION
The Program Development Committee along with the President, will assign applicants to the Mentors. Every effort will be given to accommodate all first requests. The President and Chairs of the PDC will take requests from Board members once members are assigned to determine who will serve with which Mentor. Preference will be given to longer-term members.
COSTS
To participate in the program, we are going to ask each member for a $25 registration fee. This is to cover the costs of food and drink associated with the Mentor’s commitment. Each member will be required to cover the cost of their own food and drink during the meetings.
AWARD
If a member completes 3 Mentorship Programs, they will be given a certificate of completion of the 705 Mentorship Program. You must attend 3 of 4 meetings in order for a year to be considered complete.
It only takes 5 minutes to complete the application.
